Business Value of Twitter

I am envious of several of my IBM colleagues who are spending the next few days in Orlando, Florida. No, they are not hanging out with Mickey and Minnie. It's Lotusphere 2009! Even though I am not there in person I am able to get a very detailed report what's going on via twitter.

I'm a new adopter and the business value of twitter has slowly increased. Today that value culminated as I received live tweets on the iPhone via TwitterFon from Luis Suarez, Luis Benitez, and Chris Pepin while they attended Lotusphere. These individuals are leading the way in social software adoption internally within IBM and externally with our clients. I'm excited to attend Lotusphere via twitter the next few days.

Scott, great to meet you this morning! and be added to the business value of twitter. So do you ever feel that live tweeting events takes away you experience of them? A contact of mine wrote a blog post on that recently: here
Its got me wondering how much information we can actually consume and produce, even when equipped with an iPhone!

Let's try and get lunch some time in the next couple of weeks. Tweet me whatever days work for you.

Great point. As I read the blog post from your contact I looked back on my experience yesterday as I live tweeted during @LaraK social media meeting. Perhaps I did miss some of live event, but here are two points that come to mind:

1. The things I tweeted are like my notes that I can go back to and take action on
2. Even though @LaraK spoke the entire time, the information I wanted/needed came sporadically and I could tune out (and twitter) when she was speaking about an idea I already knew about

Thank you for useful info. It was simple to read, but I'd like to add that if your software business needs to be updated try software development services.
